Back when I was doing my Vancouver travel series, I wrote a post called The 10 Best Things About Vancouver.
The final post has nice headings, brief written explanations, and multiple photo galleries.
The prewrite version? Well. Here it is: an inside look into my writing and thought processes.
1. The architecture.
Urban decay, blah.
2. The water.
Seawall/beaches
3. Salmagundi.
Except the power was out and downstairs was creepy as hell.
4. Feeling safe.
Pickpockets? Hell nah.
5. The Vancouver Public Library.
LIKE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE THE COLISEUM OUTSIDE AND THE INSIDE IS FREAKING BEAUTIFUL.
6. Graffiti/otherwise decorated walls.
Public art man.
7. The Holy Rosary Cathedral.
Reminds me of Europe.
8. Youth prices.
Being 18 is the bomb.
9. Alleyways.
I’m obsessed don’t judge me
10. Downtown at night.
Stunna.
Please, please, please tell me your prewriting looks similar.
See the finished product here: The 10 Best Things About Vancouver.
Don’t worry, Sabina, you are not alone! You really do not want to see my fiction WIPs, especially my period piece set in 1st century Rome. There are [FACT CHECK THIS] tags everywhere.

Ah yes. In academic papers/bigger projects I do a lot of highlighting to check facts.

Yup…looks familiar to me. In fact yours looks more organized than mine.

Only because it was already in list format. In my brain it was like WHAAAT.

Hahaha…. that’s definitely what my creative writing looks like, but for blog posts, I tend to just open the window and type. Pantser Blogger, I guess. I hardly ever make out whole sections for my posts…. maybe I should try it some day! :)

For my other blog posts, that’s what I do too, but the travel ones I tend to plan out more/make more professional.

You are hilarious, Sabina. When I read this the other day, I was cracking up. I think most of us writers have had similar experiences with drafting. I definitely know some of my papers for school looked like this at the beginning. I mean, after all, a shitty first draft is better than nothing at all.

Definitely!! Plus for something like this it was more about organizing the list than fully developing my thoughts at the beginning.

Hell no! My process is vomit version. Just have important lines in my head and then vomiting the words.
I need to improve sadly :(

That’s okay for a process!
