Zenith

For the final day of the A-Z Challenge, I’m featuring another guest blogger. Welcome Minnat from Yours Truly, Minnat

The dictionary has two different definitions for zenith:

1. the point on the celestial sphere vertically above a given position or observer

2. a highest point or state; culmination.

I tend to focus on the latter definition. I believe that humans reach multiple zeniths in their lifetime. So far, in my short one year of college, I’ve reached multiple zeniths ranging from surviving my first semester to figuring out my major (which may seem like nothing, but choosing what you want to do for the rest of your life when you’ve officially become an adult is a very daunting thing).

Within my first year, I met strangers who became my best friends. I can’t imagine not having them in my life. I shoved the painfully shy introverted part of me aside and allowed the extrovert within me have the reign for once. I reached a zenith of me slowly conquering my shyness.

Within my first year, I’ve lived through two semesters of rigorous academics and watched as my university combated not one, but two national crises. I watched as my school mourned for Hannah Graham, a bright girl whose bright future was abruptly cut short. I watched my frenzied school try to bring her back only to find her a victim of a homicide. I watched as my school was again put in a state of frenzy when a Rolling Stone article sparked another national outcry claiming that a girl was brutally gangraped at one of the university’s fraternity houses, only to be debunked weeks later as being incorrect. I reached a zenith of realizing that college life came with hardships more serious than I believed before.

Within my first year, I performed in front of a thousand people. I danced with not just my body, but with my heart and soul as well. Never in my life have I experienced such a high. With my best friend right by my side, I was able to let go and let myself have fun on stage, rather than worry about how I was doing the moves or if I looked funny. I reached a zenith of overcoming my stage fright.

Within my first year, I’ve reached multiple zeniths, but the greatest zenith I’ve had so far has been me discovering more of who I am and who I am destined to be with people who have slowly become less of friends and more like family.

  1. What a wonderful post to end the A to Z Challenge! I think it’s fair to say that those zeniths overshadowed the completion of A to Z, but congratulation is in order nonetheless. Well done!

  3. Multiple zeniths throughout our lives… Yes. Yes, indeed. (And much to look forward to!) Sabina, I loved your A-to-Z series; I’m so glad I found you, and I look forward to staying in touch through this wonderful thing we call the blogosphere. I especially will be looking forward to reading about what comes next for you — much, much success with all that!

  6. Hey Sabina! I am just blitzing through for the A-to-Z Road Trip. I really enjoyed reading your posts for the challenge. They were inspirational and informational! I learned a lot about college life that I didn’t get to experience when I was in college (I came in under an Adult Program–lived off campus).

I did the challenge over at Promptly Written. This blog, The Rattling Bones, is my new one. I started following you and look forward to your posts.

    See you next April! ~Lori~
