If We Were Having Coffee (Rainy Day Edition)

Reunited and it feels so good.

Reunited and it feels so good.

If we were having coffee, we’d be drinking Dutch Brothers, my favorite coffee brand from home that I can’t get on the East Coast. I wouldn’t be able to stop telling you how much I’d missed it.

I’d tell you how lovely the past 36 hours of vacation have been.

Yesterday I went to lunch with my mom at one of our favorite restaurants, a Cajun-style place with small plates called Tapalaya. I drove downtown and picked her up to play hooky a bit. I repeatedly tell my friends at college how much I miss driving, and it was so good to be back behind the wheel again.

In the afternoon, I went to a chiropractic appointment (I had a rib out) and then got a pedicure, which desperately needed to be done. Even though I generally like getting my toes done, I can get ticklish and flinch a bit, and the pedicurist always asks if I’m okay. I don’t think my eyes left my book the entire time, and I plowed through 2/3 of it–I’ll write about that another time.

IMG_3497IMG_3498I’d tell you about how ashamed I felt last night when I burned dinner. It was still edible, but the Indian tomato sauce I was making definitely had a smokier quality than every other time I’ve eaten it. To remedy my shame, I spent the rest of the evening watching the entire first season of Girls. I’m sure thoughts on that are soon to come too.

Today all I’ve done is make pancakes and catch up with my best friend, but it’s such a stay-inside-and-listen-to-the-rain kind of day that I’ll likely spend the next few hours reading and prepping a post for tomorrow so it won’t be published so late in the day.

Then we’d shift the conversation to you. What would you discuss over coffee?

  1. You know I had to come and read after you asked me about whether Diana invented it or not.

I can’t imagine not driving for long periods of time. It would drive me bonkers.

I love that “Burnt dinner” photo. The expression is priceless.
